Energy Law

There are few economic sectors that have recently undergone as profound a change as the energy sector. The transition from fossil fuels to renewable/alternative energies presents new challenges for energy suppliers, but also for grid operators and consumers; it is a transition that has an impact on the entire economy. The responsible use of resources calls for innovations and offers new business opportunities for investors. Private and commercial consumers are to be supplied with energy that comes primarily from renewable sources and its delivery is to be consumer-friendly, safe, and environmentally sound. These political goals, anchored in both German and European legislation, must be implemented. In this context conflicts often arise between those who propagate an ostensibly cheap supply with conventional energies and those who call for a supply with initially non-competitive/expensive alternatives. For the latter position, however, there is no alternative if the climate goals are to be achieved.
